Mascot of World Judo Championships: Story of Zhorik’s Success

The story of Tiger Zhorik will be world-famous. The adorable mascot of the Euro-2012 is going to become the symbol of the World-2014.

To recap, before the European Championships the residents of Chelyabinsk had rescued Amur tiger named Zhorik from certain death. The famous local veterinary Karen Dallakyan performed a difficult surgery on the tiger’s muzzle. People donated money to buy Zhorik from the previous owners that came close to killing the animal.

Zhorik has found a shelter in the rehabilitation center for disabled predators “Utes”. Vladimir Putin (current Russian president) has helped to transport the tiger. The doctor who saved the animal has visited Zhorik in Khabarovsk several times and brought good news. The tiger has met a ‘bride’ – wild female came to him from the taiga.

Nobody wants to forget a good story, that’s why the mascot of the Euro-2012 – the symbol of kindness and generosity – will be kept at the 2014 World Judo Championships.
